The  Nordborg group is seeking a full-time bioinformatics programmer/engineer, with a flexible starting date. Research in the group focuses on quantitative and population genetics of Arabidopsis, with emphasis on genomics and computational approaches. The position is to work with other group members on a wide variety of programming and software development tasks, for internal and external use. Typical tasks include optimization and implementation of algorithms and database schemata, and design of web user-interfaces.

The position requires the equivalent of an advanced degree in computer science, or life science with experience in bioinformatics. Other qualifications include: experience with SQL and relational database management systems, experience with multiple programming languages, interest in the latest trends in web and software engineering, familiarity with standard bioinformatics tools and techniques, and a strong interest in science. The working language of the GMI is English.
